About the course
The Post-Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship is a new, nationally recognised, work based route into teaching. It offers participants a post-graduate qualification with no tuition fees and the opportunity to 'earn while you learn'.
Schools are able to 'grow their own' - training members of staff who have a commitment to their school.
Upon completion of the programme, participants will achieve Qualified Teacher Status.
5 Wells Teaching Apprenticeship
How school placements work
Placements will be within the apprentice's own school with a 6 weeks element at an alternative school in an alternative key stage.
Schools are required to provide 20% non teaching time to include PPA and professional development.
- days face to face sessions with a university quality assured trainer will be held at 5 Wells Development Centre.
Schools will be required to provide a mentor to support the apprentice.
Salary will be calculated using the Unqualified Teachers' Pay Scale.
Financial support isn’t available for this course because it comes with a salary.
If you choose a course without a salary, you may be eligible for financial support while you study, including bursaries, scholarships and loans.
You must be a graduate (minimum 2:2) and able to meet the DfE's ITT entry requirements which are:
Grade C/4 or above in GCSE in Maths, English and Science (or equivalent);
Pass the professional skills test in Literacy and Numeracy;
Undertake an enhance Disclosure and Barring Service check and overseas check;
Complete a Fitness to Teach self declaration.
