About the training provider
The President Kennedy Teaching School Alliance (PKTSA) is committed to recruiting and training outstanding, enthusiastic individuals, passionate about becoming outstanding teachers. With our partner schools we cover a wide area of the West Midlands; Worcestershire, South Birmingham, Leicester, Coventry and Warwickshire. This geographical diversity provides opportunity for trainees to experience teaching in a wide variety of settings.
There are a range of schools in diverse contexts, including OFSTED 'Outstanding Providers', a 'World Class School' and another that has been awarded 'Transforming' status by the SSAT within the Framework for Exceptional Education.
PKTSA seeks to 'Build Brighter Futures Together'. Our values are based on the core principles of 'Students First; No Barriers; It's About Learning'. Our Initial Teacher Training provision was identified as ‘Outstanding’ by Warwick University in 2017 and our ITT Director, Aidan Jenkins, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship within the Centre for Teacher Education at Warwick in recognition of his partnership work over a number of years.
During your training you will have specialist help from our Professional and Subject Mentors and develop your practical skills in the classroom, whilst gaining a theoretical understanding of teaching and learning. There will also be a complementary placement at one of our alliance schools.
On finishing your training you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You will also be awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and 60 Masters credits.
