About the course
Our Subject Development Leader for MFL is an experienced teacher and has designed our programme to give trainees the skills and subject knowledge to meet the demands of all key stages. You will be given the opportunity to explore and research how pupils learn, discover a range of teaching skills and perfect strategies that meet the needs of all pupils, helping to develop their linguistic ability and your own teaching skills. The course combines a practical focus from theoretical perspectives in MFL teaching which will help trainees develop a personal approach to their own MFL teaching. It provides many opportunities to receive individual feedback in a supportive environment as well as offering collaborative opportunities to develop your subject knowledge. If you are passionate about MFL, keen to share your enthusiasm with young people and develop your own subject knowledge we would welcome your application for our MFL SCITT programme.

How school placements work
There are many benefits of choosing Thomas Alleyne's High School as your Lead School. You will be placed locally in one of our middle schools or high schools. We have a successful 3 tier system where you will be 11-16 secondary trained, but where you can benefit from training in up to A level at high school, while also gaining a valuable insight into your subject at key stage 2 at our middle schools.
We will look to place you no further than 30 minutes travel time Thomas Alleyne's High School. You will train in 2 schools over the course of the year. These will be contrasting, by age, setting or socio-economic profile. The selection of your 2 placement schools is based upon individual need, availability of places and can be discussed further at interview
Your main placement, or Home School will start in September and run through to Christmas. You will then be placed at a second school for around 8 weeks in January and February. You will then return to your Home School for the duration of the course. The benefits of this model means you experience 2 different schools, but can really consolidate your teaching practice on returning to your Home school.
You will be in your placement schools from Monday to Thursday each week. Friday is your Professional Studies training day, where you will spend time being trained by experienced professionals in many areas including;
*Teaching and learning
*Special educational needs
*Behaviour for learning
*Being a successful and creative teacher
