About the course
All students at Telford Priory School have the opportunity to take part in concerts, shows and musical theatre productions. We believe that performing helps to build self-confidence and self-esteem, enabling our students to shine.
The School has fabulous facilities enabling us to teach Drama, Dance, Music, Music Technology and Technical Theatre to a high standard.
The faculty offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including:
- Annual Musical Theatre Production
- Senior Choir (including annual European Concert Tour)
- All-comers Choir
- Soul Band
- KS3 and KS4 Dance groups
- Pop and Rock Band training
- Instrument Lessons
There is an interview at the school as well as a short teaching activity for which you will have planning time. You will teach a group of students and be observed. There will also be a subject interview and a written task.
Tutors from Wolverhampton University will also be part of the interview process.
Visits prior to interview are encouraged please contact the school directly to arrange this.
How school placements work
Students undertake their placement at one school, there are opportunities to visit other schools and also there is a week in a Primary school .
Age range - 11- 16 years.
The Telford partnership schools are in the Telford area.
The course fees for 2020/2021 are as follows:
Degree preferably in the subject area chosen or a related area. However Subject enhancement course are available if needed. Please check with school.
To hold a degree of a United Kingdom higher education institution or equivalent qualification. They are sometimes known as 'undergraduate' or 'first' degrees.
To have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade 4 (previously Grade C) in the GCSE examinations in English and Mathematics.
To have taken part in a rigorous selection process designed to assess readiness to train to teach including as a minimum both an interview and audit of your subject knowledge

About the accredited body

Teaching training is a significant aspect of our core business and accounts for just under 50% of all activity within the Institute. They provide a provide a sustainable Professional Development model that enhances teacher effectiveness.

Training with disabilities and other needs
As a Partnership we are committed to inclusion for all and have experienced staff who ensure all needs can be supported. All schools in the Partnership have policies and procedures in place to support trainees with all disabilities or needs and all environments are accessible for all. We do regular and specific risk assessments when needed and seek advice if needed as well.
We have worked previously with a student on work experience who had cerebral Palsy she used the lift in school, we provided her with space in the classrooms where she was comfortable to work and ensured where support was needed it was available. Her placement was very successful.
