About the course
To be ready for an apprenticeship, you will have already secured employment/come to an agreement with a school who want to employ you and support you throughout your training year.
On this course you will learn how to develop your subject knowledge within the context of the PE curriculum, from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5.
We will support you as you explore ways of translating your subject knowledge in to effective and engaging learning activities. Throughout your training year you will encounter and explore different methods for using your knowledge and enthusiasm in order to grow in to a teacher whose work inspires young minds.
We will involve you in developing your own understanding of the structure of the PE curriculum, and you will learn how to use this as the basis from which to build consistently strong lessons. You will learn the craft of lesson planning, creating learning-centred activities alongside a clear vision for how young minds learn. You will be supported in learning how to assess pupil progress and how to use the results of your assessments in order to refine your lessons. All our programmes help trainee teachers to channel their enthusiasm for their age phase specialism in to lessons which are grounded in key principles of the curriculum and a commitment to see pupils achieve. You will explore how data is used in education to monitor and plan for progress.
Importantly, you will also come to share our vision of how PE teaching contributes to the lives of development of young learners and prepares them for their schooling ahead. As with all our programmes, you will learn a range of strategies for promoting and securing excellent behaviours for learning which have achievement and self-confidence at their core.
Your school based experience will be underpinned by a professional development programme. You will grow your understanding of the teaching profession and the key issues which shape educational provision for young people. The programme provides you with constant opportunities to reflect on your professional practice and to acquire a depth of professional understanding of teaching, learning and assessment.
Throughout the programme, you will be supported by your mentor who will be a PE specialist who understands your needs and with whom you can work in partnership to ensure you have a fantastic and fulfilling year.

We are looking for people who can show that they are committed to working with young people and joining the teaching profession.
As an apprentice, you will already have good experience working in a school and supporting learning.
If your previous professional experience is directly related to working with young learners, we want to hear from you.
How we select our trainees:
Interviews will be held at City College Norwich and will involve candidates in a full day of activities designed to test suitability to teach. Candidates will be asked to take part in an interview task, group exercises and have a one to one interview. You will receive a brief from us so you know what to prepare for your interview. We strongly believe that interviews should be a two way process, so we aim to give you as much information on NTTC as possible and answer the questions we know you will have.
How school placements work
Individuals applying for this route will have already secured employment with a school who will support you through the majority of your training. NTTC works closely with the individual and their employing school to secure a second placement with another school within our partnership.
Our well qualified and motivated mentors are at the heart of our programme and we are a leading provider of Apprenticeships in the region.
All apprentices follow a programme of 4 days per week in school and 1 day at college. You will be placed at a minimum of two schools during the year which will offer you contrasting experiences of education in our region.
All trainees will gain experience teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with Key Stage 5 enhancement work.
Salary is in line with DfE recommendations for the Apprenticeship route in to teaching.

Financial support isn’t available for this course because it comes with a salary.
If you choose a course without a salary, you may be eligible for financial support while you study, including bursaries, scholarships and loans.
You will have achieved a good class in your degree which will be directly related to teaching. In addition you will have a C or above in English and Mathematics at GCSE.
Most importantly, you will be able to demonstrate why you want to work with young children and prove your commitment to the primary sector.
For our apprenticeship programme you will be expected to teach from very early on in your training. Therefore it is important that you already have a good experience of working with young people in school.
However, for all Teaching Apprenticeships you will need to have an employer, or come to an agreement with a school who is prepared to employ you from the start of the course.
About the training provider
Working closely with our partner schools across the region, Norfolk Academies and the Attleborough Academy Partnership offers 11 to 19 experience across a broad range of subjects and schools. We provide a tailor-made route in to teaching with our school based programme. Our well qualified and motivated mentors are at the heart of our programmes, offering the opportunity to develop subject knowledge alongside engaging classroom activities.
We offer 2 routes to Primary QTS, Primary Teaching Apprenticeships and Primary School Direct (fee-funded).

At the Norfolk Teacher Training Centre, we have over 45 schools in our partnership dedicated to your future.
Your school-based experiences will be grounded in a training programme run by experts in adult education and based at City College Norwich. You will be supported by an experienced team of higher education professionals who are at the heart of teaching in Norfolk.
Over the last four years, 100% of our graduates secured their NQT jobs before the end of the programme. We believe that this demonstrates NTTC’s commitment to ensuring that you are well prepared to present yourself at interview.
