A postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) with qualified teacher status (QTS) allows you to teach in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It’s also recognised internationally.

Many PGCE courses include credits that count toward a Master’s degree.

About the course

Candidates will be taught how to plan and deliver core content across KS3 and KS4.

Candidates will complete three PGCE essays throughout the year developing their pedagogical and subject knowledge.

The Eastwood Academy, the lead school in the EPAT obtained outstanding results in 2018 from both an attainment and progress perspective and the best in the Academy's history.

88% 9-4 in English and Mathematics.

EBacc APS of 4.76.

Interview process

Your interview will be conducted across three phases:

Phase 1 - Interview and presentation

Phase 2 - second interview in your potential placement school

Phase 3 - lesson observation

On completion, a successful applicant will be placed in one of our partner schools.

Secondary:

The Eastwood Academy

Candidates will spend four weeks in a contrasting placement school.

The course fees for 2019/2020 are as follows:

Financial support

You’ll get a bursary of £12,000 if you have a degree of 2:2 or above in any subject.

The Eastwood Academy is the Lead School in The Eastwood Park Academy Trust (EPAT). In conjunction with Essex Teacher Training, we provide trainee teacher positions across a local network of schools in the Southend area.

Essex Teacher Training is a large provider of ITT in the Eastern Region, offering a variety of different routes to QTS. Working with in excess of 80 schools in Essex and neighbouring counties, they provide excellent opportunities in primary, secondary and special schools.
