QTS (qualified teacher status) allows you to teach in state schools in England.

It may also allow you to teach in the EU, the EEA and Switzerland. You should check with the institution you’d like to teach in for confirmation. The status of QTS in these countries may change after the UK leaves the EU. Please check GOV.UK for updates.

To teach in the rest of the UK or internationally, you may wish to consider a ‘PGCE (or PGDE) with QTS’ qualification instead.

Welcome to the St Polycarp’s Catholic Teaching School Alliance, a unique and nurturing alliance of schools whose aim is to support aspiring teachers into the rewarding career of teaching.

We are very proud that St Polycarp’s is currently one of only two Catholic primary teaching schools in the diocese of Arundel and Brighton with a range of inspiring and committed teachers within our schools, many of whom are leaders in their subject areas. Once you start your journey you will become part of this experienced, motivated team, working together in a friendly environment to make you feel supported every step of the way.

Currently we work with both St Mary’s University and Reading University to offer a choice of providers with courses that suit the individual needs of each applicant. Please see their enclosed information and timetables to enable you to make an informed choice.
