St Polycarp's CTSA will take the lead in interviewing once we have received your application through UCAS. Successful applicants will be invited to interviews held in collaboration between the school and university.
How school placements work
School placements are organised by St Polycarp's CTSA drawing on the talented and nurturing staff within the schools in our alliance. We are proud of our child centered approach to learning and our supportive ethos and from the moment you join this course you become part of our team.
You will be placed in a minimum of two schools listed below with the flexibility to ensure your placements reflect your needs and interests e.g. SEND placement. Your supporting mentors will be trained to guide you through this learning journey and work alongside you to enhance your educational understanding and classroom practice.

The course fees for 2020/2021 are as follows:
Currently our fees are published as the 2019/0 rate. Fees for 2020 entry will be confirmed as soon as an announcement has been made by the DfE concerning financial support for 2020/1.
Primary SD Tuition Fee:
• GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including mathematics, English and
• degree classification of 2.2 or above
• evidence at application of the ability to demonstrate a high standard of
• You will also need to demonstrate competence in Fundamental English
and mathematics by the end of the course. This is a new DfE
requirement which replaces the QTS skills tests in literacy and

• an acceptable Disclosure and Barring Service
(DBS) and DBS by association.

About the training provider
Welcome to the St Polycarp’s Catholic Teaching School Alliance, a unique and nurturing alliance of schools whose aim is to support aspiring teachers into the rewarding career of teaching.
We are very proud that St Polycarp’s is currently one of only two Catholic primary teaching schools in the diocese of Arundel and Brighton with a range of inspiring and committed teachers within our schools, many of whom are leaders in their subject areas. Once you start your journey you will become part of this experienced, motivated team, working together in a friendly environment to make you feel supported every step of the way.
Currently we work with both St Mary’s University and Reading University to offer a choice of providers with courses that suit the individual needs of each applicant. Please see their enclosed information and timetables to enable you to make an informed choice.

Training with disabilities and other needs
Both ITT providers and the St Polycarp's CTSA support all candidates with a willingness to learn and support the needs of children. The courses are personalised in approach and able to provide the reasonable adjustments required for candidates with disabilities and other needs. Both Reading university and St Mary's have well resourced student services with the knowledge and support required to assist any candidates who may require additional help.
