About the training provider

We would like to offer you a very warm welcome to Barr Beacon SCITT. Our aim is to develop outstanding classroom practitioners who can go on to influence, mould and shape the lives of future generations for years to come. This underpins our training programme and we’re incredibly proud of what we do. We invite you to explore the details of our courses and join us on our school-based teacher training programme.

Barr Beacon SCITT is a centre for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) which works with a wide partnership of schools in the West Midlands and Warwickshire. The schools in our partnership can be viewed on our website here. Our ITT provision has gone from strength to strength over recent years and now provides a large cohort of trainees with a well-established mentoring, training and professional development package. Over the years we have trained more than 100 trainees in a diverse range of subjects and in 2017/2018 100% of our trainees were graded as Good or Outstanding trainees at the end of the course, recommended for Qualified Teacher Status and gained a PGCE through our partnership with the University of Worcester. More information on The University of Worcester can be found here.

Training with disabilities and other needs

Barr Beacon SCITT is committed to promoting and practicing equality of opportunity, valuing diversity and eliminating harassment and discrimination. We are an inclusive organisation which welcomes and treats both staff and trainees fairly and equally regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnic origin or nationality. Our workforce should be representative of the communities we serve.

At Barr Beacon SCITT we provide opportunities for applicants who are attending an assessment day to identify any special arrangements that they may require in advance of this day. Details of how this is done can be found on Page 7 of the assessment day invitation pack that applicants are sent. Trainees can be assured that reasonable adjustments to the assessment process, the course and the documentation will be made to ensure that those trainees with a disability are not disadvantaged.
