About the course
Bishop Cleary MAC and The University of Wolverhampton will work together to design a programme to develop your skills as a teacher and enable you to feel confident to teach within a primary setting. You will develop a good understanding of the learning and teaching methods used in schools and how they help children to grasp increasingly more complex ideas.
You will be encouraged to reflect on your own learning of your subject, enabling you to plan for, and deliver, innovative and inspirational lessons. You will be encouraged to develop the necessary skills to use ICT within your own classroom. Trainees are encouraged to develop into reflective teachers; practitioners who can respond effectively to the learning needs of young people in school and apply imaginatively the principles underpinning a broad and balanced curriculum.
The programme is designed to enable you to meet the Teaching Standards. In addition to developing knowledge of the curriculum you will be given support in aspects such as: educational pedagogy, lesson planning, assessment to support learning, varied teaching styles and classroom management.
The majority of time will be spent at one of the primary schools but there will be a second school experience in the spring term. Time will also be spent at the university with other trainees on the same course.
As part of the selection procedure, candidates will be requested to take part in a rigorous selection process designed to assess suitability to teach. The university will work with us in co-ordinating the recruitment process. As part of the interview process, there will be a short test designed to inform the panel about candidates' skills in literacy and numeracy. Information will be given in advance of an interview about the nature of these. There will also be a formal interview in which the university will be involved. It is a thorough process that is designed to get the best match of applicant to the place available.

The Multi Academy is named after Bishop JOSEPH FRANCIS CLEARY 1912 to 1991, Bishop of Cresima.

The salary for this course will be calculated using the unqualified teachers' pay scales.
There are no fees for this course.
Financial support isn’t available for this course because it comes with a salary.
If you choose a course without a salary, you may be eligible for financial support while you study, including bursaries, scholarships and loans.
You should be a graduate, with a degree from a UK Higher Education Institution or equivalent qualification. This should be of a 2:2 or above.
You must also possess a standard equivalent to a grade C in the GCSE examinations in English language, mathematics and science.
All applicants must have passed both literacy and numeracy skills tests prior to entry. Medical fitness will also be assessed and a DBS check is required.
