About the training provider
St. Michael's is a Voluntary Aided three-form entry Secondary Grammar school and its sixth-form welcomes around 250-300 students.
Results are consistently strong. In the summer of 2018, 32% of all our GCSEs were awarded the top grade of level 9, which means that almost one third of all grades were at the highest possible grade. At A Level just over 20% of all grades were A* grades, with over 90% of grades being A*/A/B grades. Last year, 12 of our students had successful applications to Oxford and Cambridge.
St Michael’s has a team of strong and dedicated teaching staff, who will enthuse you and enable you, like it does for its students, to transform your dreams into reality. You will be able to work with intelligent and sharp students who will on a daily basis enhance and challenge your subject knowledge as well as share your passion.
You will be welcomed by a caring and supportive staff community of mixed origin, faith and background who support the Catholic ethos of the school. If you visit us, the first thing you will notice is the calm atmosphere around the school site and especially in the classrooms. We have very considerate and hardworking students as well as highly capable, passionate and caring teachers, who will support you as you train and develop your teaching practice.
Training with disabilities and other needs
St Michael's Catholic Grammar School is a compact school comprising five adjacent buildings of widely contrasting styles; the Sixth Form Centre is The Grange, an adapted 19th century private house with a lawn and surrounded by trees to which a Resource Centre was added in 1999; the lower school, a stone building from the early 1900s; the Sports Hall built in 2008 and the main School which rebuilt should be completed in December 2019. Due to the geography of the school, there is little wheel-chair access.
