Cardinal Pole Catholic School is situated in the vibrant east end of London in Hackney. Cardinal Pole Catholic School is a comprehensive, mixed, 11-18 oversubscribed school. The school has exceptional facilities and was the most improved Hackney school at both GCSE and A Level in 2018. At GCSE our results continue to improve Year on Year and have done so for the past five years. It has many exceptional results for both departments and individual students with above national average in English, Maths and science. Progress measures continue to be very positive.
Our A level results continue to be amongst the best in the country with an ALPS 1 for progress (top 1% nationally). The school was delighted to secure 100% pass rate for all students and 18% A*-A, 54% A*-B, 88% A*-C and 97% A*-D, a significant increase on last year's high achievement. A third of students secured places in Russell Group Universities including Oxbridge with many more moving on to other top universities.
Cardinal Pole Catholic School has an outstanding track record of training teachers, who not only qualify successfully, but then many of whom also go on to secure promotion within a short period of time. Cardinal Pole is proud to be able to offer a supportive, nurturing and engaging environment for those who wish to join us in our journey to provide a first class education to the young people we serve in our community.
About the accredited body
London Met is the perfect place to kick-start your teaching career. We have a strong history of working in partnership with other organisations. We are very proud of our powerful partnerships with schools and groups of schools across London and beyond, both the long-standing relationships and those that have developed more recently.
Traditionally, our partnerships have been based very much on our university-led PGCE route into teaching, which continues to go from strength to strength. In recent years, this has broadened to include School Direct routes and relationships with alliances of schools, both hard and soft.
Training with disabilities and other needs
At Cardinal Pole we strive to ensure that all staff and trainees who work within our community are offered a safe and inclusive experience.
Our site is split across three floors and we have lift access for staff with disabilities along with automated doors to outside areas.
To maintain the health and well being of those within the Cardinal Pole community we offer mindfulness sessions on a weekly basis and have in-house trained counsellors through whom appointments can be booked.
