About the training provider
Oakham Alliance offers trainee teachers the unique opportunity to work and learn in a range of exciting and innovative primary schools within Sandwell. The alliance offers cultural and socio-economic diversity within its range of settings
All schools share a common ethos and approach to pedagogy, ensuring that pupils become confident learners achieving the highest standards possible with a core focus on:
• Learning and Teaching policies built around the principles of AfL.
• Children as learners and their all-round development at the heart of all schools
• The quality of learner experience rather than coverage
• Pedagogy which views knowledge as something constructed by children not merely transmitted by teachers.
The lead school, Oakham Primary, is outstanding and along with the other good schools, has a proven track record of local school improvement. We have an established background of working in partnership with University of Wolverhampton (UoW), local authorities and importantly, each other.
Within the alliance we have many members of staff who provide support in other schools:
• OfSTED trained inspectors
• Head Teacher consultants
• Former LA advisors and consultants• Specialist Leaders of Education
• Local Leaders of Education
• Advanced Skills Teachers
We are passionate about developing future leaders and believe that School Direct offers an unrivalled opportunity for trainees to learn and develop in our vibrant schools. By working in our schools, trainees will experience a range of contrasting experiences that will make you highly sought-after in the current job market.
