The selection process is rigorous and will include a formal interview, an activity with a group of students in the classroom, a written test to assess your subject knowledge and your literacy and numeracy skills Prior information will be shared concerning the activity with students. The selection panel will include senior leaders from the placement school, representatives from Enfield Teaching Schools Alliance and course tutors from Middlesex University.
How school placements work
The training will take place in your placement school where you will be allocated an experienced mentor to guide you from the first day of your training. You will start your training with an observation timetable and gradually begin teaching.Your teaching timetable will reflect your trainee status and will give you plenty of time to shadow and observe, to plan and prepare and to read and research current theory and practice. Your practical learning will be enhanced by your attendance at Middlesex University for central training sessions where you will also be allocated a tutor to oversee both your academic studies and the development of your classroom practice. To broaden your experience you will enjoy visits to other partner schools and you will also take up a six week placement in a school with differing profile to prepare you for the variety of contexts in which you may later be employed.
