By studying this employment based programme, you will become a confident, competent and effective teacher with the skills and knowledge to teach within the primary phase. Applicants for this programme can focus on one of the following age ranges: 3-7, 5-11 or 7-11.

All application forms will be vetted for the following:
1) Applicant meets the academic entry criteria
2) Applicant has written a strong personal statement
3) Applicant has been given a strong reference. This should be an academic reference if the applicant has been in education within the last five years.
The Selection Process
Valley Invicta Teaching School Alliance and the University of Greenwich work together to interview applicants. In order for your application to be considered you should complete a full application and consider your personal statement as being an important part of this process. If you are shortlisted you will be asked to complete written tasks and attend a formal interview.
All applications will be reviewed and then successful applicants shortlisted.
If you are shortlisted you will be invited to attend an interview at the school, during the interview you can expect:
A tour of the school
A teaching task
A formal interview
A subject knowledge related task
Your application will also need to be approved by the relevant University either through the school or during a formal visit to the University. This part of the interview will involve literacy and numeracy tasks to assess your levels.
You will need to have completed and passed the skills tests in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT before starting your training post. Offers are made subject to this condition unless you have already passed the skills tests prior to interview.
How school placements work
The majority of your training will take place at within the Valley Invicta Teaching School Alliance with Jubilee Primary School. The training programme will be personalised to the individual's professional needs but will include training on the following areas: teaching and learning, curriculum, assessment, working with parents and the community. All training is closely aligned to support the trainee achieve the Teachers’ Standards.
Candidates will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced outstanding teachers. Support and mentorship will be given by senior teachers.
Although candidates will have a base school, there will be lots of opportunities for cross-school training and will include teaching experience within another school in the Trust.
We are working with the University of Greenwich as an accredited teacher training provider. There will be opportunities to have pedagogical and professional training sessions at the University. The University will support the school in the application and interview process.
Additionally, the University of Greenwich will provide library services, student services, and other support needed, matched to the candidates requirements.
The Primary Tuition Fee QTS programme is an employment-based route available to high-quality graduates with at least three years postgraduate work experience who will earn a salary whilst they train. The programme runs for one year.
You will be assessed on your practical teaching and your progress in achieving the standards for Qualified Teacher Status by gathering evidence in the form of a portfolio. Successful completion will lead to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
The course fees for 2019/2020 are as follows:
The Primary Tuition Fee QTS programme is funded by tuition fees paid by the trainee who will be eligible for the standard student support package, including training bursaries, tuition fee loans and scholarships where eligible. The programme runs for one year.
Candidates must have a good honours degree (2:2 or above)
English, Maths and Science GCSE or equivalent: Grade C or above
You must have received the results from these qualifications before applying and any equivalent qualifications should be certified by NARIC.
Some work experience would be preferable.
You must have passed both the Literacy and Numeracy Professional Skills Tests before the training programme begins.
