About the training provider

United Teaching is the Initial Teacher Training arm of United Learning, an ambitious and growing group of junior and secondary, state and independent schools across England. We are a national SCITT which offers real teaching exposure in a choice of schools, a mentor system, a support network, professional qualifications, as well as continuous professional development throughout your career with the group. The course is designed to bring out the best in your teaching skills quickly, professionally and comprehensively; a scheme aimed at creating the teachers of tomorrow and the education leaders of the future.

Our focus as a group is simple and unswerving – to provide an excellent education to all our pupils. We believe there should be no barriers to learning. We create the foundations for successful lives. Our schools share our sense of dedication, passion and integrity. And they share our commitment to high quality teaching.

The answer is our guiding philosophy: "The best in everyone". It enables us to set the standard for excellence in education that we expect in United Learning schools. Just as importantly, it brings out the best in you as a trainee and as a teacher.

On our Initial Teacher Training scheme, you could be teaching from day one. And, by accessing our collective expertise and support, you’ll have the resources you need to develop. So, expect to be a valued member of your teaching team, empowered to lead your own classes from the start, but with all the support you'll need.

About the accredited body

Trainee development is overseen by the lead school, Paddington Academy, and in partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London.

Goldsmiths have been training teachers since 1904 and are renowned as a leader in the field of teacher training. There is a strong emphasis on active and collaborative learning, and Ofsted have rated most aspects of our programmes as 'good' or 'very good'. Employers rank Goldsmiths as one of the country’s best universities from which to recruit graduates, according to a survey published in the Times Higher Education magazine.

Training with disabilities and other needs

At United Teaching, we aim to be an inclusive provider, promoting diversity and opportunities for all. We strive to support all our trainee teachers as best as we can and work with our partner PGCE provider and our partner schools to ensure that all trainees make excellent progress.
