A unique opportunity to join our gifted team via the School Direct Salaried route and gain Qualified Teaching Status at our Outstanding School (P.G.C.E qualification possible with study extension - optional).
Cricket Green Special school is offering successful applicants a rare chance to gain QTS whilst completing extensive coverage of SEN and Primary training.
Successful candidates will cover the 4-9 age range in primary placements gaining valuable knowledge, skills and experience of teaching in a mainstream environment. You will also teach for two terms in our special school across KS1, KS2 and KS3 gaining additonal SEN experience and valuable pedagogical insights.
All candidates will be assessed by Equalitas, our established education provider, and will be judged against the Teaching Standards.
Candidates will be employed by CGS for the duration of the course with an annual salary of £21,641. You will be expected to work 5 days per week excluding attendance on Equalitas' courses.

Two terms in the host school, CGS across KS1, KS2 and KS3 - special school placement.
One split term in a mainstream primary school covering the current delivery of the National Curriculum; half a term in year 1 and half a term in year 4.

A presentation for our Pupil Council
A micro teach of a KS3 class

How school placements work
Applicant shortlisting will be based upon the content and quality of applications, qualifications and experience in both SEN and mainstream schools.
Successful applicants will then be scored against the criteria in our interview process.

This is a salaried course offering Qualified teaching Status. Candidates also have the option to gain a P.G.C.E qualification by completing three distant learning assignments with Leeds Beckett University, an education partner of Equalitas - fee £1600
Successful candidates will be employed by CGS for the duration of the course on a starting salary of £21,641.

About the training provider
MSTA works collaboratively with partners within Merton and beyond in order to bring about the best possible outcomes for pupils in our schools, especially those with special or additional needs. MSTA is led by two Merton (special) schools, Perseid and Cricket Green, along with three (mainstream) primary schools: Bishop Gilpin, Poplar and Singlegate. Also part of the team are Melbury College and the Smart Centre (special) and one (mainstream) high school, Ricards Lodge, in collaboration with Merton Local Authority. This complement provides a unique context for our Teaching School, led as it is by special schools working in close partnership with mainstream colleagues to ensure that our offer meets local need.
MSTA offers trainees access to outstanding schools and outstanding teachers within our network, providing experience in local mainstream primary and specialist settings across Merton. A range of high quality professional development opportunities are available via this training route enabling trainees to fulfil their teaching and learning potential with us.
