About the course

Teach Bolton is the true essence of School Direct. On an average week, you’ll spend three days in your placement school and two days in taught sessions, delivered locally.

The University lecturers come to us. Specialist subject teachers from local schools in our partnership share their expertise with you.

On assessment weeks, you’ll spend Monday to Friday in your placement school applying your skills and knowledge.

You’ll spend time in a minimum of two placement schools, gaining experience in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and building positive relationships with staff and pupils.

Our course mentors will support you along the way. This is your programme and we care for your progress.

Interview process

A typical interview will include a mini teach to a group of children, a group speaking and listening assessment, and an individual ‘getting to know you’ interview with course leaders. We want to ensure we are the right fit for you.

How school placements work

You will be a valued member of your staff team in all your placements, and be expected to integrate fully in school life.

Your first placement will run September to December.

After Christmas you’ll move to your new placement in a different key stage, where you are likely to stay until Summer.

You second placement will reflect what we have learned about you, your passions, skills and development needs from the Autumn placement. We match the placement to you.
